I was looking at that Ram Air GTO, and I think Its a very subtle resto-mod. I dont think that Pontiac offered plastic seat backs in 1969

I've never seen Boyhood, but is this a negative thing? Or just a "that's interesting" thing?
Random jalop note, it stinks when a car breaks your immersion in a medium. All the noncar people miss the Missteps and cut corners, but we see a 'danger to manifold' moment and CRINGE.

Its more of an interesting thing, but later in the story they hint that the dad bought it new and "took care of it" so its kinda a story hole as well

It kinda sucks when you notice things car related in movies that are incorrect, things that 99% of the world wouldnt notice.

What sucks even more is when you also notice them with guns. I've learned to live with them, or else no action movie would ever be fun again.

I'll go nerdier -
There was a scene in the film where Patricia Arquette was sitting at her kitchen table, going through bills. Her home is supposed to be in San Marcos. As she's paging through bills, I see a City of Austin logo on something. I'm sure Richard Linklater (the director, an Austin resident) just grabbed the bills off HIS kitchen table as a prop.
Also, in the movie, the drive from San Marcos to Austin is presented like some long trek. It's 31 miles - city hall to city hall.
